Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season.

 December 17, 2014

nbspspan stylefont-family Arial Helvetica sans-serif font-size 14px line-height 18px background-color rgb148 148 148The Holidays can be a dangerous time of year when it comes to fire. Annually more fires occur on Thanksgiving Christmas Eve and Christmas Day than any other day of the year. This is due to the fact that more people are cooking using candles and running more electrical devices. If you have a live tree in your home make sure the water is checked daily this will greatly reduce the risk of a fire occurring. Please check the photos below for more Holiday Safety Tips. From all of us here at Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety please have a safe and happy holiday season.spanpp

Today is the anniversary of the Station Night Club fire that occurred in Rhode Island killing 100 people. Always have an exit strategy. Here’s an important takeaway from the Station Nightclub Fire – when a fire breaks out in a crowded place, people almost always head for the front door. When you enter a public place or a building that you're not familiar with make a mental note where additional exits are placed and consider where you would go in the event of a fire. Remember, the best way out may not be the way you came in.
