Mission Statement:
The mission of the Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety is to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property to the residents of Hillsborough through the delivery of the highest quality, effective and efficient code enforcement, public education and emergency fire response.
The Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety operates under and is funded through the Hillsborough Fire District. The Bureau of Fire Safety's employees are dedicated to providing the highest level of public service to the citizens and volunteer firefighters of Hillsborough Township.
All of our Fire Marshals are trained and certified to the level of fire official or fire inspector through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and have been trained in fire and arson investigation through the New Jersey Department of Criminal Justice. Our staff has a combined total of over 100 years of firefighting experience and is certified to the level of EMT or EMR through the New Jersey Department of Health and are swift water rescue and extrication technicians. Our fire marshals regularly attend training and firematic educational programs to improve our level of service.
The Bureau of Fire Safety conducts fire inspections in accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code and the Code of the Township of Hillsborough, conducts investigations to determine the origin and cause of fires, and responds to fires and other emergencies as fire suppression staffing. Fire Safety education to the public including our senior citizens and children is also an important part of our daily duties. The Bureau of Fire Safety works diligently to protect our growing and changing community.
